Flute Repairs
After running a successful woodwind repair business for a number of years, I currently specialise in flute repair only. I take in flutes both locally and from around the country. I am Straubinger pad trained. I love working on flutes of all shapes and sizes, and am constantly amazed at the variety of instruments that I am lucky enough to work on!
I always have a long waiting list for services and overhauls, and would ask that you contact me to discuss your requirements using the contact form on my home page. My waiting list is currently over 6 months for standard/pro flutes, and due to this I am currently unable to make specific appointment weeks that far ahead. To try to get through my increasing backlog, I am not currently offering services/overhauls for vintage wooden instruments.
If you go onto my waiting list please be aware that the timings are approximate, and I will contact you as you near the top of the list to arrange a mutually convenient time for your work. I appreciate that you may wish to have your instrument serviced sooner, and would ask that if you are on my waiting list and get the opportunity for a repair elsewhere, please let me know so I can take you off the list!
I am aware that a number of specialist repairers have now retired, and I will do my best to accommodate new customers alongside my existing clients.

When enquiring about a repair, or asking to go on the waiting list, please let me know the make/model of your flute, its age and when it was last serviced. This will help me estimate what it might cost and how long it may take to complete. As a general rule, flutes which have not had regular maintenance will take longer (and cost more) as more work will be required. Pads do not last forever, and older pads do not always survive cleaning and reseating, even if they look to be in reasonable condition. Any flute requiring pads will be with me for a longer time to allow the pads to settle in and become stable.
I do my best to fit in genuine emergencies as soon as possible to get the instrument back to a reasonable playing standard, however if the flute requires further work - ie a service or repad, it will be added to the waiting list once the emergency work has been done.
